Product Story
Whilst Lars Tornøe was studying at the Bergen National Academy of Art and Design, he noticed that one of his class mates had a couple of beautiful, large leftover bits of oak lying around. Instead of throwing them away, she gave the pieces of wood to Lars. When Lars’ girlfriend’s sister had her first baby, he decided to use the oak to make a mobile to put over the baby’s bed. His idea was to make little round UFO shapes in different sizes that could hover over her bed.Once Lars began sketching the proportions of the different circles next to each other, he instantly had the idea for THE DOTS as coat hangers. He became fascinated by the endless possibilities generated by allowing circles of a few different sizes to be placed independently.
