IN-BETWEEN Design Platform presents FIRST LIGHT, a limited edition contemporary design collection by Jordan Söderberg Mills between. FIRST LIGHT explores the use of colour, light, and pattern in Turkish design history. The collection draws inspiration from the use of light, colour and pattern in the architecture of Istanbul, in particular the revzen-i menkuş, embroidered windows, as well as the intricate patterned geometries of Kündekâri woodwork. FIRST LIGHT is a limited edition contemporary design collection consisting of mirrors and tables applying refraction of light into glass. About Jordan Söderberg Mills: Jordan Söderberg Mills is an interdisciplinary artist and designer working in installation, sculpture and design objects. The work plays with the borders of physical and digital realities by ""hacking"" visual perception, challenging physics and the mechanics of vision. He apprenticed as a blacksmith with master sculptor Francisco Gazitua in the foothills of the Andes and completed a Master's Degree at Central Saint Martins in London, United Kingdom. Söderberg Mills has given workshops for Tate Britain, and exhibited with the Victoria and Albert Museum, Blythe House, the London Design Festival. He completed projects for The Power Plant, AGO, The Design Exchange and Frame Magazine at Salone del Mobile in Milan. Jordan Söderberg Mills was named One to Watch by the Colour in Design Awards, Top 5 Creatives in Toronto by Designlines Magazine, and was winner of Wallpaper* Magazine’s Best in Glass for 2018. His retail space for Adidas in Boston, Massachusetts won the Grand Prix du Design from Interieurs Magazine.
